Emergency Eye Care Services

When is it an Emergency?

Contact us immediately if you experience any of the following "red flag" symptoms:

  • Sudden loss of vision (partial or total)
  • New flashes of light or a sudden increase in "floaters"
  • A "curtain" or "shadow" moving across your field of vision
  • Severe eye pain, redness, or physical trauma

Foreign Bodies

Metal, glass, or chemicals in the eye require immediate professional irrigation and removal to prevent permanent scarring.

Retinal Detachment

Symptoms include sudden flashes of light or a shadow in your vision. This is a time-critical surgical emergency.

Acute Glaucoma

Characterized by intense eye pain, nausea, and "halos" around lights. Pressure must be reduced quickly to save the optic nerve.

Eye Infections

Severe bacterial infections or corneal ulcers can progress rapidly. We provide clinical-grade antibiotic treatments.

Our Emergency Triage Process

As qualified opticians, we are equipped with the specialized diagnostic technology required to assess urgent ocular conditions. In many cases, we can treat the issue in-practice or provide a fast-track referral to a hospital eye casualty department if surgical intervention is needed.

Immediate Action Steps:

  1. Do not rub your eyes: This can worsen scratches or push foreign objects deeper.
  2. Contact Lens users: Remove your lenses immediately if you experience pain or redness.
  3. Chemical splashes: Flush the eye with clean water or saline for at least 15 minutes while calling us.

Please call our practice number immediately for urgent triage instructions.
